Dark December, the new ARPG from Needs Games, has just entered global pre-registration and promises to become the next obsession for hack and slash fans. The game is a prequel to Undecember, but it can be played without any prior knowledge of the series — making it ideal for both newcomers and genre veterans.
Set in a dark fantasy world, Dark December puts players in the role of the Syrian tribe as they uncover ancient secrets involving gods and the very origin of the protagonist. The story takes place before the events of Undecember, exploring a new timeline within the same universe.
The studio promises visceral combat, constant progression, and deep immersion. One of the biggest changes is the camera system, which abandons the traditional isometric view in favor of a free-cam, delivering more impactful and cinematic battles on both PC and mobile — with full cross-play support.
Another major novelty is the class structure: instead of Undecember’s classless model, Dark December offers three distinct playstyles — Berserker (melee combat and high durability), Raven (ranged attacks), and Morgana (magic and elemental spirits). This change aims to make the game more accessible without sacrificing depth for experienced players.
Despite being free-to-play, the game promises a friendly monetization model. According to the developer, spending money is optional and not required to progress. Paid items can be obtained in-game and serve more as gameplay style adjustments rather than unfair advantages.
Pre-registration begins on December 9, 2025. Players who sign up early will receive special rewards during the next testing phase.
Dark December is coming soon to PC and mobile.
